MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT REMAINS BLINKING AT A CYCLE OF 3 Hz.

DIAGNOSIS:

Test mode connector circuit is shorted.

TROUBLE SYMPTOM:

Malfunction indicator light blinks at a cycle of 3 Hz when ignition switch is turned to ON.

WIRING DIAGRAM:


CHECK TEST MODE CONNECTOR.

Disconnect the test mode connector.

Turn the ignition switch to ON.

Does the malfunction indicator light blink?

Yes


No

System is in good order.

Note

Malfunction indicator light blinks at a cycle of 3 Hz when test mode connector is connected.



CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN ECM CONNECTOR AND ENGINE GROUNDING TERMINAL.

Turn the ignition switch to OFF.

Disconnect the connector from ECM.

Measure the resistance of harness between ECM connector and chassis ground.

(B134) No. 14 — Chassis ground:

Is the resistance less than 5 Ω?

Yes

Repair the short circuit in harness between ECM and test mode connector.


No

Replace the ECM.
