Petrol engine (with and without turbocharger):
Saab "Turbo engine oil, Synthetic Blend" SAE 5W-30 or engine oil that fulfils the requirements of API SH/SJ and ACEA A3-98 with viscosity SAE 5W-30. These should be completely or semi-synthetic. At constant temperatures in tropical climates, use 10W-50 or 15W-50, which also fulfil the above requirements. We advise against the use of additional additives. The lowest requirement for high performance engines is GM-LL-A-025 / 0W-40. Diesel engine: Saab engine oil 5W-40 for diesel or Mobil Super S 5W-40 or oil that fulfils the requirements of ACEA A3/B3, B4 with viscosity SAE 5W-40 or GM-LL-B-025 / 0W-40. |
| Lubrication to prevent seizing |
Threaded joints subjected to wide temperature fluctuations may tend to seize and will then be difficult to unscrew on the next service occasion.
Typical threaded joints of this type are:
Oxygen sensor
Retaining nuts for the exhaust manifold and turbocharger
Recommended lubricants: MOLYCOTE 1000 - 30 20 971 or NEVER SEIZE.
