Coolant, changing
Coolant, changing |
Fill the system when the engine is cold but not above the MAX level mark. Warm up the engine until the thermostat opens and check the level of the coolant.
Coolant system capacity:
- B204. B234: 8.5 litres (8.9 qts)
- D223L: 8.3 litres (8.7 qts)
Important | ||
Screw the filler cap down hard or the system will not be pressurized, resulting in a lower boiling point and loss of coolant. |
||
Bleeding (petrol engine)
1. |
Start the engine and run it at idling speed until the radiator fan cuts in.
|
2. |
If the car is equipped with a fuel-driven parking heater, bleed the system by removing the upper hose. If the parking heater is started when air is present, it could be damaged. Start the heater and allow it to run for a while after the radiator fan has started.

Bleeding (diesel engine)
For bleeding the cooling system, refer to group 2, Cooling system D223, Adjustment/replacement, Changing coolant.
