Brief description |
The exhaust system is designed to lead out the engine exhausts with low flow-through resistance, low noise level and long service life.
The exhaust system consists of three sections, the front pipe with catalytic converter, middle silencer and rear silencer. Both the middle and the rear silencer are absorption silencers.
The exhaust system is protected from corrosion with all pipes made of chromium steel. In addition, the silencers are manufactured from corrosion retarding 12-per cent chromium steel plate. The exhaust manifold is cast and is connected to the turbocharger.
The joints are of the flange type (so called ball-joint), with a 2-piece clamp that is tightened with 2 bolts. This makes for simple replacement as well as a good fit. No joints have gaskets.
The exhaust system is rubber mounted at seven points. In order to give good ground clearance, the exhaust system is positioned in a floor tunnel.
There are heat shields fitted at points where the heat is most intense. Depending on the position of the shield, these are manufactured from aluminium or zinc plated sheet, and protects the exposed points against heat radiation.
