Checking the fuel pressure regulator
Checking the fuel pressure regulator |
Important | ||
To minimize any residual fuel pressure, remove the fuel pump fuse no. 32 while the engine is idling. Turn off the ignition once the engine has stopped. |
1. |
Connect the fuel pressure gauge equipment, special tool no. 83 93 852, to the pressure side of the fuel rail. Use special tool 83 95 261 to separate the fuel delivery line.
2. |
Remove the vacuum hose from the pressure regulator and connect the vacuum pump.
3. |
Start the fuel pump. Use battery voltage from fuse in (no. 4) coupled to fuse out (no. 32) in the fuse panel. Use jumper lead no. 83 93 886.
4. |
Check the reading at atmospheric pressure. It should be 3 bar (43 psi).
7. |
Disconnect the test equipment and fit the fuel delivery line.
