Fuel injection
| Fuel injection |
Injection times are controlled by a control module using a large number of parameters:
| • | engine load (mass air flow sensor) | |
| • | engine speed (crankshaft position sensor) | |
| • | engine temperature | |
| • | oxygen sensor | |
| • | etc. | |
Injection timing can vary, so that for instance on a cold start fuel injection can be done with open inlet valves.
The length of time the injectors can be open varies from approx. 3 ms when idling to approx. 15 ms when fully loaded.
