EVAP Tank Pressure Sensor.Performance Problem.

EVAP Tank Pressure Sensor Circuit. Short to Ground.

EVAP Tank Pressure Sensor Circuit. Open / Short to B+.


Fault symptoms

CHECK ENGINE lamp goes on after two driving cycles.

Conditions

Ignition switch in ON position



Vehicle speed = 0 km/h. Pressure fluctuates more than 0.5 kPa >25 times in 5 sec.



< 0.1V for longer than 5 sec.



> 4.96V for longer than 5 sec.

Diagnostic help

Fault diagnosis concerns an electrical fault in connecting leads or in the sensor. The function of the pressure sensor can be read with the diagnostic tool.


- Select “ Data Display / Output Control (New)”.

- Select “ Tank Pressure”.


The diagnostic tool should show approx. 0 kPa when the filler cap is released. Note that the level in the tank must not cover the sensor during the check.

Checking the wiring harness

Intermittent faults may occur in connection with short circuits and open circuits. Jiggle the wiring harness at several points and in several directions to locate any problems in the wiring, including intermediate connectors. Observe the multimeter, scan tool or test lamp during the check.
