Solenoid valve

Solenoid valve

Checking the signal hoses

1. Detach all the solenoid valve's hose connections from the turbocharger, intake manifold and control valve's diaphragm box.

2. Blow into the hose from the turbocharger (C) and check that air comes out of the hose to the control valve's diaphragm box (W).

3. Blow into the return hose from the intake manifold (R) and check that air comes out of the hose to the control valve's diaphragm box (W).

Checking the solenoid valve's constriction

At the solenoid valve's connection to the turbocharger (C) is a constriction which makes this opening more susceptible to clogging by dirt, etc. than the others. Check that the constriction is not clogged. If the hole is too small or the dirt cannot be removed, change the solenoid valve.

For checking the electrics, see 2.7 Service manual "Engine management system".

To remove

1. Unplug the solenoid valve's connector.

2. Undo the hose clips and the rubber hose connections to the solenoid valve.

3. Remove the bolts securing the solenoid valve to the car body.

To fit

1. Position the solenoid valve correctly and tighten the bolts.

2. Attach the hoses to their correct nipples.

3. Plug in the solenoid valve's connector.
