Headlamp wipers

Headlamp wipers

Description of operation

A wiper is mounted under each headlamp. They are connected to start wiping whenever the windscreen washers are activated.

When the washers have ceased and the wiper motors have performed two double-strokes, the built-in limit switches in the motors disconnect and the wipers stop wiping.

A diode in each motor (66FL and 66FR) prevents power from the motor feedback circuit from reaching the washer motor from the rear.

Each wiper motor incorporates overload protection in the form of a cut-out actuated by a resistor. The cut-out is connected in series with the motor and trips if the load is excessive (if the wiper blades have frozen to the headlamp lenses, for instance).

When switch (61) is activated, +54 voltage is supplied from pin 5 via fuse 31. The two motors (66FL and 66FR) power pin 2.

Note

If the washing action is of short duration, the wipers can come to a halt in a position other than the normal parking position.

A longer washing action will cause the headlamp wipers to return to the normal parking position.
