Wiring harness, seatbelt tensioners

The joining of SRS cables is forbidden.

Joining can cause functional disorders that make the system unusable and can lead to personal injuries


Changing

Note

If the car is fitted with a radio other than a Saab original radio, check that the customer has the radio code before you begin work.



1. Disconnect the negative lead of the battery.

2. Remove the seat on the side where the wiring harness is to be replaced.

3. Remove the floor console.

4. Remove the front door scuff plate on the side where the wiring harness is to be replaced.

5. Remove the cover on the B-pillar where the wiring harness is to be replaced.

6. Bend aside the mats at the door sill and seat member.

7. Unplug the connector of the seatbelt tensioners.

8. Connect the spare parts harness to the seatbelt tensioners.

9. Place the spare parts harness along the standard wiring harness via the door sill and the seat member to the floor console.

10. Use a cable tie to attach the spare parts harness to the B-pillar so that it does not get caught.

Unplug the 16-pin connector in front of the airbag control module.

Left-hand side:

12. Prise out the red wire from pin1 and the yellow wire from pin 2 in the connector.

13. Prise in the spare parts harness' red wire in pin 1 and yellow wire in pin 2.

14. Put the connector back together.

15. Continue with step 19.

Right-hand side:

16. Prise out the red/yellow wire from pin 3 and the red/blue wire from pin 4.

17. Prise in the spare parts harness' red/yellow wire in pin 3 and red/blue wire in pin 4.

18. Put the connector back together.

19. Use tape to secure the spare parts harness to the car's standard harness.

20. Isolate all removed pins with tape and tape them up against the wiring harness so that they do not cause rattles.

21. Bend back the mats.

22. Fit the scuff plate.

23. Fit the B-pillar cover.

24. Fit the floor console.

25. Fit the seat.

26. Connect the battery's negative lead.

27. Start the engine and check to make sure the airbag lamp does not light.

28. Erase all DTCs in SRS.

29. Set the clock and program the radio code if applicable.
