Deleting Daytime Running Lights at customer’ request
|
1995-1998 900
1999- 9-3
Daytime Running Lights (DRL) were introduced on 1995 models to make the car more visible to other cars and pedestrians. With daytime running lights, the headlights remain on with the ignition key, regardless of the position of the headlight switch.
This feature may be deleted at the customer’s request if daytime running lights prove to be an annoyance to the customer. Follow the procedures below.
If you are delting this feature, it is important that the customer be advised that daytime running lights have been proven to reduce the likelihood of accidents and that disconnecting the DRL’s may reduce the vehicles’ visibility. DRL’s are permitted by law but they are not required in the United States. (Note: DRL’s are required in Canada so this SI is not valid there.)
1.
|
Remove fuse 15 (20A) and store in the fuse holder.
|
3.
|
Select ICE on a 900 or DICE on a 9-3 and select ALT 1 in the light variant menu.

ALT 3 is the programmed selection for US Daytime Running Lights.
Deleting the DRL feature at the customer’s request is not claimable under the New Car Warranty.
