Differential
The differential function means that the outer wheels must be allowed to rotate faster than the inner wheel when cornering. The small differential gears thus rotate around the differential shaft when the larger differential gears have different speeds for remaining stationary when driving straight ahead when the larger differential gears have the same speed. The power is transmitted from the final drive pinion to the final drive gear which is mounted to the differential housing. From the differential housing, the power is transmitted via the small differential gears to the larger gears which are connected to the inner driver and intermediate shaft with a splined connection. The is power then transmitted to the drive shafts and to the wheels.
