Cold start in AUTO

At a cold start, the windscreen must first be de-iced or de-misted. Then the cabin must be warmed up as quickly as possible. When the outside air and the coolant are cold, the fan speed must be adjusted so that the air temperature after the heat exchanger always is the warmest possible.

Air distribution

If the calculated temperature at head level for the driver is lower than the driver has set on the ACC unit display and the outside temperature is below 6˚C, the air distribution will be dependent on the coolant temperature until the defrost/floor position has been selected.

Adjusting

Using the diagnostics tool, the ACC unit can be adjusted to:

Change the outside temperature limit for which air distribution position defrost is selected during cold starts.

Change the coolant temperature limit above which the air distribution position defrost/floor is selected when the engine is warming up after a cold start.

Fan current

For as long as the calculated temperatures at head level for the front-seat passenger and driver are lower than the set values, the fan current will be dependent on the coolant temperature and outside temperature.

The above illustration shows how the fan current is dependent on the coolant temperature when the ambient temperature is below -20˚C.
