Section of radiator member
The radiator crossmember is best joined when only one side is damaged. In such cases, the front wing on the undamaged side need not be removed.
1.
Drill out the spot-welds.
2.
Cut loose the damaged section of the radiator cross-member.
3.
Align any deformed sheet metal or panels.
4.
Cut the spare part so that it overlaps the intended joint line by approximately two centimetres.
5.
Fit the spare part and fixate with a few welding clamps. Fit the wing, close the bonnet and fit the spare part.
6.
Cut through the spare part and the old radiator member at the same time so that the joint can be welded edge-to-edge.
7.
Grind clean the surfaces to be welded on the spare part and on the body.
8.
Apply welding primer on the surfaces to be spot-welded. Use Teroson Zinkspray.
9.
Secure the spare part with a couple of tack welds. Hang up the wing, close the bonnet and position the spare part.
10.
All-weld the joint on the radiator member.
11.
Spot-weld the radiator member to the wheel housing.
13.
Remove any remaining welding primer. Welding primer reduces adhesion of paint, filler and sealant.
14.
Apply primer to all bare metal surfaces. Use Standox 1K Fullprimer.
15.
Seal joints and sheet metal flanges with sealant. Use Terostat 1K-PUR.
