Microswitch for fifth bow intermediate position

Microswitch for fifth bow intermediate position

The fifth bow is operated by two hydraulic cylinders positioned by the soft top mechanism body mountings and a microswitch is positioned by the left side of the soft top mechanism.

When the main sequence is started when lowering (opening) the soft top, the microswitch follows a camber on the soft top mechanism. As long as the microswitch is closed, the pressure is maintained in the hydraulic cylinders and the fifth bow remains in the bottom position until it has passed the soft top cover hinge. Then the microswitch opens and the pressure in the hydraulic cylinders is released, and the fifth bow is “released” and can be positioned correctly in the soft top storage.

When raising (closing) the soft top, the control module ignores the microswitch for the fifth bow intermediate position.

Microswitch pin 3 is connected to control module pin 4 and microswitch pin 2 is connected to grounding point G36. When the ignition is turned ON, the control module outputs B+ via a 1 kOhm resistor to the microswitch from pin 4 and when the fifth bow reaches its intermediate position, the microswitch closes and the control module inputs are grounded.
