For steps 13, 14 and 15 two (2) persons are required. |

In order to avoid damaging the paintwork, fasten a strip of tape. |

Remove the trim in the window frame and on the tailgate, see Service Manual 8:2 Interior equipment.

Remove the central locking system motor by removing the two retaining screws and the link arm so that the motor can be rotated and the connector for the motor is accessible.

3. |
Unplug the connector for the lock motor.
|
4. |
Unplug the remaining connectors as well.
|
5. |
Remove the wiring harness from the cable ties.
|
6. |
Prise off the wear protection in the hole for the cable entry, so that the lead-through catches are accessible.

7. |
Remove the cable lead-through from the tailgate by releasing the catches from the inside, one at the top and two at the bottom.

8. |
Pull out the wiring through the tailgate.
|
9. |
Cut the clips away from the tailgate.
|
10. |
Remove the washer nozzle by turning it up 90˚ and lift it out.
|
11. |
Remove the washer nozzle from the washer hose.
|
12. |
Pull out the washer hose from the tailgate by first removing the rubber stopper from the tailgate.

13. |
Remove the hinge pin by using a screwdriver to release the circlips, then pull out the pin, (2 persons).

14. |
Remove the gas springs from the tailgate, one on each side, by releasing the circlip with a screwdriver and pull the spring off the ball, (2 persons).

15. |
Remove the tailgate, (2 persons).

Fit in reverse order.

When the tailgate is changed, holes must be drilled for the relevant spoiler before painting. |
