Heat exchanger

Removing



1. Fit hose clamp pliers part. No. 30 07 739 on the hoses by the heat exchanger.

2. Remove the hoses from the heat exchanger.

3. Blow with compressed air in one pipe to drain remaining coolant from the heat exchanger.

4. Remove the ACC unit where fitted, see group 8 “ACC”.

5. Work through the following steps according to descriptions in 8:2 Interior.

Remove the glove box.

Remove the panels on both sides of the centre console.

Remove the cover around the ignition.

Remove the rear ashtray.

Remove the rear air vents and the cover.

Remove the bolts that secure the rear part of the centre console.

Remove the switches for the window lifts.

Remove the centre console.

6. Cut the cable ties and remove the rear floor air ducts in front of the heat exchanger.


7. Open the heat exchanger enclosure.


8. Remove the clips securing the hoses to the heat exchanger.

9. Remove the toggle clips on the side of the heat exchanger, pull down the pipes and lift out the heat exchanger.


Fitting



1. Fit the heat exchanger.

2. Check that the O-rings are positioned correctly and that they are not damaged. Refit the pipes and secure with the clips.

3. Close the heat exchanger enclosure.

4. Refit the rear floor air ducts and secure with a cable tie. Work through the following according to descriptions in section 8:2 Interior equipment:


Refit the centre console.

Refit the switches for the window lifts.

Refit the rear part of the centre console.

Refit the rear part of the air vent and the cover.

Refit the rear ashtray.

Fit the cover around the ignition.

Refit the panels on both sides of the centre console.

Refit the glove box.

5. Refit the ACC unit, see group 8 “ACC”.

6. Refit the coolant hoses on the heat exchanger and secure with hose clips.


7. Fill coolant.
