Air distribution

Air distribution

In the climate control unit, the air is directed by the air distribution damper to the defroster, panel or floor vents. The controls can be also be set between the three main settings. The air is then distributed between the defroster and panel or between the panel and the floor.

The air distribution is controlled via a stepping motor that controls the air distribution damper (applies to cars with ACC).

From the air distribution dampers, the air is directed via a number of air ducts to the air vents located throughout the cabin.

Defroster position

The air is directed to the air vents in the top of the dashboard as well as to the defroster vents for the front side windows.

At the same time, a small amount of air flows to the panel vents in order to prevent cold drafts from the side windows.

Panel position

The air is directed to the air vents in the dashboard and to the air vents at the rear of the centre console.

The three dashboard vents can be regulated individually. Air can be directed to flow vertically and horizontally. The volume can be adjusted steplessly.

At the rear of the centre console, there are two panel air vents for the passengers in the rear seat. They are adjustable, the air direction as well as the amount of air can be controlled.

Floor position

The air is directed to the air vents under the dashboard, under the front seats to the rear floor ducts as well as to the B-pillar duct for the rear side windows.

At the same time, a small amount of air passes to the dashboard air vents in order to prevent cold drafts from the side windows. A combination of the defroster and floor positions should be selected for the most effective de-misting of the rear side windows.

There are four air vents leading to the floor, two of which have their outlets under the dashboard and direct the air to the floor for the driver and passenger. Two air vents have their outlets under the front seats and direct the air to the floor in the rear seat.
