SAHR

The front seats are fitted with SAHR (Saab Active Head Restraint) as standard. SAHR reduces the risk of neck injuries and whiplash in the event of low-speed collisions from behind.

SAHR is a mechanical system activated by the body weight, the body position and the force of the collision. It consists of a structure built into the upper part of the backrest which is connected to the head restraint.

The system is activated upon collision from the rear at relatively low speeds, around 17 km/h.

In the event of a rear-end collision, the car and front seat accelerate forward, causing the driver/passenger to travel back in relation to the seat. The lower part of the backrest structure is then pressed in by body weight, causing the upper part together with the connected head restraint to slide forward/up. This reduces the relative motion of the body in relation to the head and reduces the effects of whiplash.

The height of the head restraint can be adjusted to provide the best possible protection regardless of the occupant's height.
