Engine mounting, rear


To remove


1. Suspend the motor from the lifting beam part no. 83 94 850. Disconnect the oxygen sensor cable. Remove the heat shield (turbo).

2. Raise the car and remove the front wheel and air shields. Undo the joint between the front and intermediate exhaust pipes.

3. Unscrew the front exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold or, alternatively, the turbocharger. Release the three way catalytic converter and remove the exhaust pipe.


4. Unscrew the nuts on the end pieces on both sides and the rear engine mounting. Place a lifting trolley under the engine, raise the trolley, undo the rest of the bolts and lift down the subframe.


5. Remove the rear mounting pad.


To fit



1. Fit the mounting pad to the gearbox.

Tightening torque: 39 Nm (29 lbf ft)

2. Lift up the subframe and bolt it in place.

Tightening torques:

Front: 115 Nm (85 lbf ft)

Centre: 190 Nm (140.6 lbf ft)

Rear: 110 Nm + 75° (81.4 lbf ft + 75°)

3. Fit and tighten the nuts for the mounting pad to the subframe.

Tightening torque: 39 Nm (29 lbf ft)

4. Fit and tighten the end piece nuts.

Tightening torque: 75 Nm (55.5 lbf ft)

5. Clean the area for the joint in the exhaust pipe.


6. Fit the front exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold or, alternatively, the turbocharger. Lubricate the studs on the turbocharger with Molycote 1000 before fitting. Hang up the three way catalytic converter.

7. Screw together the joint between the front and intermediate exhaust pipes.

8. Fit the air shields and wheels.


Tightening torque: 120 Nm (89 lbf ft).

9. Lower the car and connect the oxygen sensor cable. Fit the heat shield (turbo).

10. Remove the lifting beam.
