Brake vacuum pump
Brake vacuum pump |
Cars with automatic transmission are equipped with an electric brake vacuum pump. The pump is located under the front left wing and is connected to the brake servo via a non-return valve. The pump is powered from a relay located in the relay board under the bonnet.
The relay is controlled from control module pin 52, which is grounded to start the pump.
The following conditions apply for the control module to activate the output:
• |
Engine running
|
• |
Intake manifold pressure above 58 kPa
|
• |
Accelerator pedal released
|
• |
Brake pedal depressed
|
The pump will be activated for 3 seconds once the above conditions have been met.
Diagnosis |
• |
There is no diagnosis for the electric circuit to the relay.
The relay can be activate with the diagnostic tool. |
