Starting the engine and then an increase in engine temperature of at least 22°C (40°F) to at least 71°C (160°F).Fault handling, throttle control |
If a safety-related fault should occur in the throttle control, the throttle body will go into mechanical limp-home mode and CHECK ENGINE will immediately go on.
After repair, the diagnostic trouble code must be cleared first and then the limp-home mechanism reset.
Fault handling, other components and functions |
A diagnostic trouble code is generated when fault criteria are fulfilled.
If the fault criteria are also fulfilled during the next driving cycle, the CHECK ENGINE lamp will go on, otherwise the diagnostic trouble code will be cleared.
For the CHECK ENGINE lamp to go out without any other measures being taken requires three consecutive driving cycles without the fault reoccurring.
For the diagnostic trouble code to be cleared, 40 fault free warming-up cycles are also required.
