Siren
Siren |
General |
The acoustic alarm of the anti-theft system includes a siren (piezo-electric type) with battery back-up. It is located at the rear edge of the LH front wheel housing.
Function |
The siren is powered with +30 from fuse 35 (22a) and grounded at grounding point G35. TWICE communicates with the siren via pin 29. TWICE arms/disarms the siren and also controls the sound pattern when the alarm is tripped.
Information from the siren on faults or a low battery is sent to TWICE on the same lead.
Programming |
The duration of the siren sound when an alarm is tripped, and the pattern of the sound, are programmable.
Battery back-up |
The siren has an integral battery back-up which means that even if the power to the battery is cut (disconnected car battery, cut lead), when an alarm is tripped the siren will continue to sound using its own battery.
The lifetime of the battery is approx. 10 years. When it is time to change the battery, “SERVICE THEFT ALARM” is shown on the SID when the ignition is turned on.
