Inner universal joint

To dismantle



1. Remove the drive shafts as described in .

2. Clean, remove the circlip and pull out the tripode from the shaft. Use a suitable three-armed puller.

B235R: Bend out the plastic protector to remove the tripod from the tripod housing.

3. Pull the rubber gaiter from the drive shaft.

4. Wipe the universal joint, tripode and drive shaft.


To assemble



1. Fit the new rubber gaiter to the drive shaft and fit a new clamp.

2. Fit the tripode. Make sure that its bevelled edge is fitted inwards on the shaft.

3. Fit the circlip.

4. Fill the universal joint with new grease (16) 87 92 624 (Shell Grease SL 0233), see .

5. Couple the drive shaft and tripode housing.

B235R: Bend back the plastic protector while making sure no protruding sharp edges can damage the rubber boot.

6. Thread on the rubber gaiter and fit a new clamp.
