Bush in suspension arm

To remove



1. Raise the car and remove the front wheel on the side from which the suspension arm is to be removed.

2. Remove the anti-roll bar nuts.

3. Undo the ball joint nut.

Press out the ball joint using 89 96 696 Puller .

Remove the nut from the ball joint.

4. Remove the screw that attaches the stanchion to the suspension arm.

5. Right side: Remove the cover plate.

All: Remove the screw that attaches the suspension arm to the subframe.

Remove the suspension arm.

6. Remove the seal from the bush.

7. Press out the bush with 87 92 475 Press sleeve, differential bearing , use 87 90 636 Fixture for support.



To fit



1. Press in the bush with 87 92 475 Press sleeve, differential bearing , use 87 90 636 Fixture for support.

Note

The groove in the bush must point towards the marking on the suspension arm.

The bush must protrude the same amount on both sides of the suspension arm.


2. Fit the seal at the top.

3. Put the suspension arm in place in the subframe. Insert the screw into the mounting on the subframe while inserting the anti-roll bar rubber bush, washer and nut.


4. Attach the screw to the stanchion mounting in the suspension arm.

Tightening torque 92 Nm (68 lbf ft).

5. Fit the ball joint nut.

Warning

A new nut should always be attached if it has been removed, because the holding power of a locknut is reduced when it is refitted.


Tightening torque 75 Nm (55 lbf ft)

6. Raise the suspension arm to the same position as when the car is sitting on all four wheels. Tighten the screw on the attachment to the subframe.

Tightening torque 115 Nm (85 lbf ft).


7. Tighten the nut for the anti-roll bar.

Tightening torque 10 Nm (7.4 lbf ft).

Right side: Attach cover plate.

8. Fit the wheel, see Wheels .

Tightening torque: 110 Nm (81 lbf ft).

9. Lower the car to the floor.
