B-pillar, 3D |
1. |
The side panel must be removed.
2. |
Cut free the damaged part of the outer B-pillar panel, see
Permissible joints
. Avoid cutting the sheet metal below.
3. |
Cut away the B-pillar from the inner side panel.
4. |
Drill out the spot-welds that secure the reinforcement in front of the wheel housing.
5. |
Grind down the welds at the lower end on the inside of the B-pillar.
6. |
Drill out the spot-welds on the inside of the upper part of the B-pillar.
7. |
Tap loose the B-pillar and align any damaged sheet metal or panels.
8. |
Fit the B-pillar new inside part and fixate with a couple of welding clamps.
9. |
Cut through the B-pillar inside part and the inner side panel at the same time so that the joint can be welded edge-to-edge.
10. |
Remove the inner part and drill holes for plug-welding at the upper end.
11. |
Grind clean the surfaces to be welded on the inside part, the B-pillar new reinforcement as well as on the body.
12. |
Apply welding primer to the surfaces to be spot welded or plug welded. Use Teroson Zinkspray.
13. |
Fit the B-pillar inner part and reinforcement, fixate with a couple of welding clamps.
14. |
Fasten the inner part and reinforcement with a couple of welds.
15. |
Cut the B-pillar outer part so that it overlaps the intended joint line by approximately three centimetres.
16. |
Fit the outer part and fixate with a couple of welding clamps.
17. |
Fasten the outer panel with a couple of welds.
18. |
Fit the door and side panel, check the fit.
19. |
Remove the side panel, outer panel of the B-pillar and B-pillar reinforcement.
20. |
All-weld the joint between the B-pillar inner part and the inner side panel.
21. |
Weld the inner part lower end to the sill.
22. |
Drill holes for plug-welding in the reinforcement that is to be welded in front of the wheel housing.
23. |
Grind clean the surfaces to be welded on the reinforcement and body.
24. |
Apply welding primer on the surfaces to be plug and spot-welded. Use Teroson Zinkspray.
25. |
Fit the reinforcement, spot and plug-weld it.
26. |
Fit the B-pillar reinforcement and fixate it with a couple of welding clamps.
27. |
Spot-weld the reinforcement.
28. |
All-weld the joint at the top edge on the inside of the B-pillar inside part.
29. |
Plug-weld the upper end of the B-pillar inner part.
30. |
Fit the B-pillar outer panel and fixate with a couple of welding clamps.
31. |
Fit the door and side panel, check the fit.
32. |
Cut through the B-pillar outer panel and the door frame outer panel at the same time so that the joints can be welded edge-to-edge.
33. |
Grind clean the surfaces to be welded on the B-pillar outer panel and body.
34. |
Apply welding primer on the surfaces to be spot-welded. Use Teroson Zinkspray.
35. |
Remove the side panel.
36. |
Spot-weld the inner panel.
37. |
All-weld the joints between the B-pillar outer panel and the door frame.
38. |
Remove any remaining welding primer. Welding primer reduces adhesion of paint, filler and sealant.
39. |
Apply primer to all ground surfaces. Use Standox 1K Primer.
40. |
Fit the side panel.
