The side panel must be removed.

Cut free the damaged part of the outer B-pillar panel, see
Permissible joints
. Avoid cutting the sheet metal below.

Cut away the B-pillar from the inner side panel.
|
|
| 4. |
Drill out the spot-welds that secure the reinforcement in front of the wheel housing.
|
|
| 5. |
Grind down the welds at the lower end on the inside of the B-pillar.
|
|
| 6. |
Drill out the spot-welds on the inside of the upper part of the B-pillar.
|
|
| 7. |
Tap loose the B-pillar and align any damaged sheet metal or panels.
|
|
| 8. |
Fit the B-pillar new inside part and fixate with a couple of welding clamps.
|
|
| 9. |
Cut through the B-pillar inside part and the inner side panel at the same time so that the joint can be welded edge-to-edge.
|

| 10. |
Remove the inner part and drill holes for plug-welding at the upper end.
|
|
| 11. |
Grind clean the surfaces to be welded on the inside part, the B-pillar new reinforcement as well as on the body.
|
|
| 12. |
Apply welding primer to the surfaces to be spot welded or plug welded. Use Teroson Zinkspray.
|
|
| 13. |
Fit the B-pillar inner part and reinforcement, fixate with a couple of welding clamps.
|
|
| 14. |
Fasten the inner part and reinforcement with a couple of welds.
|
|
| 15. |
Cut the B-pillar outer part so that it overlaps the intended joint line by approximately three centimetres.
|
|
| 16. |
Fit the outer part and fixate with a couple of welding clamps.
|
|
| 17. |
Fasten the outer panel with a couple of welds.
|
|
| 18. |
Fit the door and side panel, check the fit.
|
|
| 19. |
Remove the side panel, outer panel of the B-pillar and B-pillar reinforcement.
|

| 20. |
All-weld the joint between the B-pillar inner part and the inner side panel.
|
|
| 21. |
Weld the inner part lower end to the sill.
|
|
| 22. |
Drill holes for plug-welding in the reinforcement that is to be welded in front of the wheel housing.

Grind clean the surfaces to be welded on the reinforcement and body.

Apply welding primer on the surfaces to be plug and spot-welded. Use Teroson Zinkspray.

Fit the reinforcement, spot and plug-weld it.
|

Fit the B-pillar reinforcement and fixate it with a couple of welding clamps.

| 27. |
Spot-weld the reinforcement.
|
|
| 28. |
All-weld the joint at the top edge on the inside of the B-pillar inside part.
|
|
| 29. |
Plug-weld the upper end of the B-pillar inner part.

Fit the B-pillar outer panel and fixate with a couple of welding clamps.

Fit the door and side panel, check the fit.
|
|
| 32. |
Cut through the B-pillar outer panel and the door frame outer panel at the same time so that the joints can be welded edge-to-edge.

Grind clean the surfaces to be welded on the B-pillar outer panel and body.
|

| 34. |
Apply welding primer on the surfaces to be spot-welded. Use Teroson Zinkspray.

| 35. |
Remove the side panel.
|
|
| 36. |
Spot-weld the inner panel.
|
|
| 37. |
All-weld the joints between the B-pillar outer panel and the door frame.
|
|
| 38. |
Remove any remaining welding primer. Welding primer reduces adhesion of paint, filler and sealant.
|
|
| 39. |
Apply primer to all ground surfaces. Use Standox 1K Primer.
|
|
| 40. |
Fit the side panel.
