Symptom: Noise from the soft top cover.

Fault symptoms
Noise from the soft top cover.Cause: Friction between the cover and the vinyl or between the soft top cover and side trim when the soft top is open.
| Procedure 1 | 
Use Krytox GPL 205
| 1. | 
        Manoeuvre the soft top so that the soft top cover is open.
         | 
      |
| 2. | 
        Apply Krytox GPL 205 to the front edge of the soft top cover and moulding as shown in the illustration.
         
        
         | 
      |
| 3. | 
        Apply Krytox GPL 205 to the rubber mouldings on the front corners of the soft top cover as shown in the illustration.
         
        
         | 
      |
| 4. | 
        Check that the noise no longer occurs. If this procedure does not produce satisfactory results, continue with procedure 2.
         | 
      |
| Procedure 2 | 
Use felt tape, part no. 49 60 555
| 1. | 
        Thoroughly clean the vinyl surface which comes in contact with the soft top cover.
         | 
      |
| 2. | 
        Position 7 pieces of felt tape on the vinyl surface; keep the same distance between the pieces.
         
        
         | 
      |
| 3. | 
        Fasten the pieces. Check the alignment of the felt tape with the soft top cover.
         | 
      |
| 4. | 
        Check that the noise no longer occurs.
         | 
      |
| Procedure 3 | 
Cars affected: - 17006409, thicker tape is fitted after this VIN.
Use felt tape, part no. 49 60 555.

        Manoeuvre the soft top so that the soft top cover is open.
         |

| 3. | 
        Check that the noise no longer occurs.
