Engine compression check


1. Remove the engine cover and turbo delivery pipe.


2. Disconnect the glow plugs.


3. Undo and remove the glow plugs.

4. Undo the connector sleeve in the direction of the arrow and pull the wiring harness from the fuel distribution pump.


5. Connect a compression gauge with a measuring range of between 10 and 40 bar to the glow plug holes together with adapter 83 95 345.

6. Run the starter motor for about 4 seconds at a speed of at least 150 rpm. The maximum permissible difference between cylinders is 10%.

7. Disconnect the compression gauge and adapter.


8. Connect the wiring harness to the fuel distribution pump.

9. Fit the glow plugs.


Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 lbf ft).

10. Connect the glow plugs.

11. Refit the turbo delivery pipe and the engine cover.


12. Erase any diagnostic trouble codes.
