Auxiliary heater diesel RHD

To remove



1. Open the expansion tank pressure cap and release any overpressure. Tighten the cap again.

2. Remove the cable ties and unplug the heater connector.

3. Loosen the sealing strip and remove the vacuum valve, charge air cooler with console. Remove the vacuum hose for the diaphragm and the connector housing.

4. Loosen the fuel hose from the fuel pipe on the heater, plug the hose to avoid spilling fuel and to prevent dirt from entering the fuel system.


5. Carefully pinch the coolant hoses for the heater inlet and outlet with pinch-off pliers 30 07 739.

6. Mark, remove and carefully move aside the hoses from the heater.

Important

If needed, cover the alternator to prevent coolant from entering.


7. Remove the vacuum hose attachment from the coolant hose.

8. Loosen the clamp for the exhaust pipe.

9. Loosen the coolant hose attachment from the induction manifold. Leave the induction pipe on the heater.

10. Loosen the bolts that secure the heater console to the bulkhead and lift out the heater. Plug the heater inlet and outlet connections as the heat exchanger is filled with coolant which drains when removing.

11. Drain the coolant and remove the console from the heater.

12. Remove the intake pipe.


To fit



1. Fit the intake pipe.

2. Fit the console to the heater.

3. Make sure that the exhaust pipe is in the correct position, lower the heater and fit the exhaust pipe to the heater. Tighten down the heater console to the body.

4. Make sure that the pipes do not rub up against anything and tighten the clamps.

5. Connect the coolant hoses and remove the pinch-off pliers.

6. Secure the vacuum hose to the coolant hose and the coolant hose to the induction pipe.

7. Remove the plug from the fuel hose and connect the hose to the fuel pipe on the heater.

8. Connect the vacuum hose and plug in the connector for the vacuum valve. charge air cooler. Fit the valve with console and refit the sealing strip.


9. Spray Kontakt 61 (part nr 30 04 520) on the heater connectors, connect and fixate them.

10. Raise the car and connect an exhaust hose to the heater exhaust outlet as well as an exhaust hose to the exhaust pipe of the car, then lower the car.

11. Start the engine, top up coolant if needed, and start the heater with the diagnostics tool. (If the heater is equipped with a separate water pump, the engine does not need to be started for bleeding and function check. However, coolant must be topped up when needed as the heater is bled and has started.)

12. Check heater function.

13. Shut off the heater after function check and remove the exhaust hoses.

14. Check the coolant level and top up if needed.
