When the ignition key is turned to the drive position the control module receives current on pin 27. The control module then grounds pin 36 and the main relay is activated. From the main relay pin 87 the control module also receives at the same time its voltage supply on pin 37.

The relay stays activated for a further 5 seconds after the ignition has been switched off. That is if the starter motor has been operated. |
Fuel pump relay |
As soon as the control module receives pulses from the crankshaft position sensor on pin 48 and 49, pin 3 is grounded and the pump relay is activated.
