Wash the gearbox beside the gear selector shaft, engage 4th gear and fit
87 92 335 Locking pin
.

2. |
Undo the M8 screw on the selector rod and move the gear lever to 3rd.

3. |
Prise out the seal using a narrow screwdriver.

In-car fitting |

Clean the selector rod and check that it has no burrs.
|
2. |
Wind a layer of thin, smooth plastic tape around the hole in the selector rod.

3. |
Grease the sealing ring and fit the seal on the selector shaft. Remove the tape and tap in the seal using
87 90 685 Fitting tool, sealing ring selector shaft
and
87 91 709 Clamp
. Tap only until the seal is level with the clutch housing.

4. |
Join the selector rods using the M8 screw.
|
5. |
Check the oil level in the gearbox and top up as needed. Use
87 92 590 Tool, oil level plug
