Background

A system for air cooling of the battery has been introduced during model year 2001. The system consists of a hose and a two-part box. The lower part of the box as well as the hose are fitted in production and the upper part of the box is to be fitted upon delivery.

Parts required

The upper part of the box is packed seperately and is placed in the car's luggage compartment.

Procedure

Make sure that the air hose is positioned correctly and mount the upper part of the box according to the illustrations so that the markings correspond with the battery poles. Adjust the battery cables as necessary so that they do not prevent the upper part of the box from being positioned correctly. Check also that the air exhaust hose does not become pinched.

Check that the locking tab on the lower part engages correctly with the matching hole in the upper part (A). Check also that the upper part locks to the lower part on the opposite side (B).
