Raise the car and remove the bottom engine cover.

Position a container under the radiator and drain the coolant until the expansion tank is empty. Remove the expansion tank cap to facilitate draining.

Lower the car and remove the upper coolant hoses from the expansion tank.
|
4. |
Unplug the level sensor connector.
|
5. |
Remove the attaching bolt for the expansion tank.
|
6. |
Lift up the expansion tank, pinch off the lower coolant hose with pinch-off pliers 30 07 739 and remove the hose.

To fit |

Connect the lower radiator hose to the expansion tank, refit the expansion tank and remove the pinch-off pliers.

2. |
Refit the attaching bolt for the expansion tank and plug in the level sensor.
|
3. |
Connect the upper radiator hoses.
|
4. |
Raise the car, check that the radiator drain plug is tightened and refit the bottom engine cover.

5. |
Fill coolant in the expansion tank and check for system leaks.
|

Bleed the system as follows:
Connect exhaust hoses to both engine exhaust system and auxiliary heater exhaust system and start the engine. Start the parking heater with the diagnostics tool (Body, SID, Activate, Heater). The parking heater shuts off when the engine reaches 80°C or if one leaves the parking heater menu. Check that there is a continuous coolant flow in the hose from the thermostat housing to the expansion tank. Run the engine until the thermostat has opened. |
