Checking of coolant hoses to EGR


1. Undo then close the coolant expansion tank cap to release any pressure in the cooling system.


2. Remove the upper engine cover

3. Clamp the lower hose with pinch-off pliers close to the end.


4. Have some absorbent paper or similar at hand to soak up any coolant that escapes. Disconnect the lower hose from the EGR-valve.


5. Squeeze the upper coolant hose and check whether coolant comes out of the EGR valve pipe. A lack of coolant indicates that the hose is blocked and must therefore be changed.

6. Remove the pinch-off pliers from the lower coolant hose. Place the pinch-off pliers on the upper coolant hose to the EGR valve.


7. Squeeze the upper coolant hose and check that coolant runs out of the lower coolant hose on the EGR valve. A lack of coolant indicates that the hose is blocked and must therefore be changed.


8. Connect the coolant hose to the EGR valve and remove the pinch-off pliers.

9. Check the coolant level, start the engine and ensure there are no leaks.

10. Fit the upper engine cover

11. Delete the DTCs, road test the car and check that no DTCs are generated.
