The PSG 16 engine management system of the new diesel engine has a new function that means that the diesel pump injects a small amount of fuel before the main injection. This function, known as pilot injection, is primarily to reduce diesel knock. The function is described in WIS under Technical description - Diesel pump. Pilot injection will be introduced successively a short time after the start of production, which starts with the VIN above. The VIN from which the function will be introduced will be specified at a later date.
