Securing connector cables

Service Campaign 15702

Cars in stock must be rectified before delivery.

Cars already delivered must be rectified in connection with a scheduled visit to the garage for service or repairs.

Cars affected

Saab 9-3 diesel, VIN 12020001-12032673

Background

Vibration tests have shown that there is a risk of the cables by the 9-3 TiD M01 diesel control module chafing. Sharp edges on the connector can cut through the cable insulation.

Parts required

79 71 880 Cable tie 250 x 5 mm

Procedure

Examine box A4 on the modification identity plate before proceeding. Continue as follows if the box is not marked:

1. Remove the upper engine cover.

2. Fit a cable tie to the left-hand connector on the control module as illustrated. (Do not unplug the connector.)

3. Cut off the surplus from the cable tie.

4. Replace the upper engine cover.

Marking the modification identity plate

On completion of the necessary procedure, box A4 on the modification identity plate must be marked. If the work was carried out by the importer, mark the box with a "7". If done by a dealer, mark it with an "8".
