Wiring harness, luggage compartment lid

Note
|
If the car is fitted with a radio other than a Saab original radio, check that the customer has the radio code before you begin work.

1.
|
Disconnect the negative lead of the battery.
|
3.
|
Unplug the connector behind the LH wheel housing.
|
4.
|
Carefully mark the cables in the connectors.
Take the pins out of the connectors leading to the rear harness in the luggage compartment lid harness - otherwise you will not be able to pull them through the hole in the roof.
|
5.
|
Remove the cable grommet from the roof by turning down a little of the headlining on the LH side and exposing the retaining lugs on the rubber grommet from the inside.
Important
|
Be careful that the headlining does not get damaged or dirty.
|
|
|
6.
|
Unplug the connectors of all the components.
|
7.
|
Draw the wiring harness out of the cabin.
|
8.
|
Carefully mark the cables and the connectors in the new harness.
Take the pins out of the connectors leading to the rear harness in the luggage compartment lid harness - otherwise you will not be able to pull them through the hole in the roof.
|
9.
|
Run the new wiring harness the same way as the old one and fasten it in the same manner. Make sure that all grommets seal properly.
|
10.
|
Plug the connectors to their components. In case of doubt, check against the wiring diagrams and component lists pertaining to the system you are working on.
|
11.
|
Put the pins back into the connectors. Check against the marking of the old harness.
|
12.
|
Refit the headlining, C-pillar trim and trim in luggage compartment and on tailgate.
|
13.
|
Connect the negative lead to the battery. Reset the clock and program in the radio code if there is one.
|
Important
|
Fasten the wiring harness correctly so that there is no risk of it scraping or rattling.
|
Check all rubber grommets to minimize the risk of leakage.
|
|
|
Note
|
Spray all the connectors with “Kontakt 61” to prevent corrosion; clean all the grounding points and apply vaseline.

A. Changing the luggage compartment lid wiring harness
1.
|
Disconnect the negative lead of the battery.
|
2.
|
Take off the lining of the luggage compartment lid.
|
3.
|
Mark all connectors meticulously
before unplugging them from their components.
|
4.
|
Unplug the connectors belonging to the rubber grommet.
|
5.
|
Cautiously detach the wiring harness so as not to spoil those cable ties, etc., that are to be re-used.
|
6.
|
Run the new wiring harness in the same way as the old one and fasten it in the same manner.
|
7.
|
Plug the connectors to their components. In case of doubt, check against the wiring diagrams and component lists pertaining to the system you are working on.
|
8.
|
Plug the connectors back together.
|
9.
|
Put the lining of the lid back into place.
|
10.
|
Connect the negative lead to the battery. Reset the clock and program in the radio code if there is one.

|

B. Changing the rubber grommet between the lid and the body
1.
|
Disconnect the negative lead of the battery.
|
2.
|
Take off the lining of the luggage compartment lid.
|
3.
|
Carefully mark all the connectors.
|
4.
|
Unplug the connectors.
|
5.
|
Detach the rear edge of the LH lining of the luggage compartment.
|
6.
|
Unplug the connectors leading to the rear wiring harness.
|
7.
|
Remove the cable grommets, and carefully detach the wiring harness so as not to spoil the cable ties, etc., that are due for re-use.
|
8.
|
Run the new wiring harness in the same way as the old one and fasten it in the same manner.
|
9.
|
Plug the connectors back together.
|
10.
|
Put back the lining of the LH side of the luggage compartment and its lid.
|
11.
|
Connect the negative lead to the battery. Reset the clock and program in the radio code if there is one.
