Checking the transmission fluid level
Checking and topping up the transmission fluid should be carried out in accordance with the service schedule.
The level of the fluid can be checked in the following manner:
1.
Place the car on an level surface and apply the handbrake. The gearbox should be at operating temperature (approx. + 80°C), which will be reached after driving about 20 km, while checking the fluid level. Check the fluid temperature with the diagnostic tool.
2.
Run the engine at idling speed, engage position D and wait at least 15 seconds. Then engage R and wait 15 seconds. Do the same in position P.
3.
Wipe the dipstick clean with a lint-free cloth and put it back in the gearbox.
4.
The fluid level should be between the MIN and MAX markings on the side of the dipstick marked +80°C. If necessary, top up with Texaco Texamatic DEXRON III (7045 EU, TL1863 US) mineral based fluid through the dipstick pipe. The distance between the markings corresponds to approx. 0.4 litres.
5.
When the outdoor temperature is low (colder than ± 0°C), the operating temperature of +80°C will not be reached. In this case check the fluid level on the side of the dipstick marked + 20°C).
Important
Oil is filled through the dipstick hole. Do not remove any plugs on top of the gearbox.
Important
Change the fluid if it has a burnt smell or is black.
