Solenoid valve SL, for Lock-up
Solenoid valve SL is located in the valve housing, which is mounted on the transmission casing. It controls the engagement of the lock-up function, so that transmission takes place mechanically through the torque converter when the solenoid is activated.
The solenoid is grounded via its casing directly to the transmission casing and is connected to control module pin 2, which activates it by energizing it with B+. An unenergized valve is open.
The power supply is controlled by the control module, which sends signals to engage or disengage lock-up with respect to speed, throttle position and the selected driving program.
The Lock-Up function will be disengaged in the following cases:
•
If an electrical fault occurs so that limp-home is activated.
•
When the brake light switch closes and the gearbox input speed is lower than 2000 rpm.
•
When the accelerator is fully released and the vehicle speed is below 125 km/h with the selector lever in position D.
•
Gearbox Fluid Temperature is lower than 0°C (bus only)
•
Gearbox Fluid Temperature is higher than 150°C (bus only)
The nominal resistance of the solenoid winding is 13 ohms.
Diagnostics
DTC P0743 will be generated if solenoid SL is defective.
