Cars in stock must be remedied before delivery.
A personal communication must be sent to the owners of cars already delivered requesting them to get in touch with the nearest Saab garage as soon as possible to have the nonconformity rectified.
Saab 9-3 model year 2001 with chassis numbers 12024313-12025105.
On some suspension arms the grease can leak out of the ball joints, which can lead to a shortened useful life of the ball joints.

Check box A1 of the modification identity plate before proceeding. Continue as follows if the box has not been marked.
Change out the suspension arms on the right and left sides.

Raise the car and remove the front wheel from one side of the car.

2.

Remove the anti-roll bar nuts.
|
3.
|
Loosen the ball joint nuts. Press out the ball joint using
Puller 89 96 696
. Remove the nut from the ball joint.
|
4.
|
Remove the screw that attaches the support to the suspension arm.
|
5.
|
Right side:
Remove the cover plate.
Both sides:
Remove the screw that attaches the suspension arm to the subframe.
Remove the suspension arm.

Insert the suspension arm into the subframe. Thread the screw into the attachment in the subframe while threading the anti-roll bar's rubber bushing, washer and nut back into position.

2.
|
Attach the screw to the support's attachment in the suspension arm.
Tightening torque: 92 Nm (68 lbf ft)
|
3.
|
Attach the nut for the ball joint.
Tightening torque: 75 Nm (55 lbf ft)
|
4.
|
Raise the suspension arm to the same position as when the car is sitting on all four wheels. Tighten the screw at the attachment to the subframe.
Tightening torque: 115 Nm (85 lbf ft)
|
5.
|
Tighten the nut for the anti-roll bar.
Tightening torque 10 Nm (7.4 lbf ft)
Right side:
Attach cover plate.
|
6.
|
Attach the wheel and tighten the wheel screws.
Tightening torque 110 Nm (81 lbf ft)
|
7.
|
Repeat the corrective measure o¨n the other side of the car.
|
8.
|
Lower the car to the floor.
|
Marking the modification identity plate
|
On completion of the necessary rectification, box A1 on the modification identity plate must be marked. If the work is carried out by the importer, mark the box with a "7". If done by the dealer, mark it with an "8".
