A personal communication must be sent to the owners of cars already delivered requesting them to get in touch with the nearest Saab workshop as soon as possible to have the fault rectified.

Background: 176 cars have been delivered to customers with the wrong type of rims and tyres due to material shortages.

51 24 805 Wheel assy, 4

30 06 442 White high-pressure paste, enough for 5-10 cars

Procedure

Before any action is taken, box B5 of the modification identity plate must be checked. If the box is filled in, proceed as follows.

Important

The method described in this information deviates from the corresponding information in WIS.



1. Lift the car.

2. Remove the wheel.

3. Remove the centre emblem by pressing from behind.

4. Clean the contact surface between the rim and the brake disc, removing dirt and any corrosion.

5. Apply paste 30 06 442 to the hub.

Important

Make sure there is no grease on the contact surface between the rim and the brake disc.



6. Apply oil to the bolt threads and the conic surface of the bolt.

7. Hang the wheel in place.

Fit the bolts and tighten them alternately by hand to centre the wheel.


8. Tighten the bolts alternately two times.

Important

The wheel must be suspended freely when tightening the wheel bolts.


Tightening torque 110 Nm (81 lbf ft).

9. Fit the centre emblem.

10. Repeat points 2-9 on the remaining wheels.

11. Program the MIU with Tech 2 so that the speedometer and odometer show correct values.

11.a. Select Diagnostics.

11.b. Select model year: (1) 2001.

11.c. Select Body.

11.d. Select MIU (Main Instrument Unit).

11.e. Select Programming.

11.f. Select Speedometer.

11.g. Select tyre:

Tech2 v.41: Select 1. 215/45 R17 (tyre type)

Tech2 v.42: Select SP2000 215/45-17

11.h. Select OK.


Marking the modification identity plate

Upon completion of the procedure, box B5 of the modification identity plate must be marked. If the procedure is carried out by the importer, the box is marked with a "7". If it is carried out by the dealer, it is marked with an "8".
