Conditions for soft top operation

When the ignition is in position ON, the soft top can be operated with the ROOF button. If the ignition is turned to the ST position while the soft top is being operated with the ROOF button, the motion will stop and must be restarted by pressing the ROOF button again.

The control module receives a message about the speed of the car via the I-bus from the main instrument unit. It is possible to operate the soft top when the vehicle speed is below 10 km/h, which is about the speed the car will travel in first gear at idling speed.

The control module receives information on the position of the soft top storage from two microswitches. If the soft top storage is up and an attempt is made to lower (open) the soft top, operation is halted and the message CHECK SOFT TOP STORAGE is displayed on SID.

The control module receives information if the boot lid is closed via the I-bus from the TWICE control module. If the boot lid is open and an attempt is made to operate the soft top, the soft top sequence is halted and the message CLOSE TRUNK LID is displayed on SID. The boot lid must be closed, otherwise it will collide with the soft top cover when it is raised (opened).

The control module receives information from the windscreen frame switches that the first bow has been unlocked. If the first bow is locked and an attempt is made to operate the soft top, the soft top sequence is halted and the message CHECK SOFT TOP LATCHES is displayed on SID.

The power supply to the control module must be between 10-16V for the control module to be able to operated the soft top or the windows.

The I-bus must be communicating correctly so that the control module will receive information about the vehicle speed and whether the boot lid is closed or not.
