The soft top cover functions as a lid over the lowered soft top and also acts as a seal against the fifth bow when the roof is raised.
It is secured to the two hinges and operated by a hydraulic cylinder located on the right-hand side of the luggage compartment. A gas cylinder reinforces the action of the hinges to ensure that the soft top cover is kept fully open while the soft top is being operated.
Both front corners of the soft top cover are locked by mechanisms located on both the inner side plates. These two locks are operated by wires from a mechanical drive unit powered from the soft top cover's hydraulic cylinder.
Another lock mechanism in the cover locks the fifth bow to the soft top cover mechanism with two lock fittings when the soft top is raised. In the front corner of the cover, there are two swivel covers that are folded up to provide space for the soft top mechanism rear rails when the soft top is raised. These are also operated by the fifth bow lock mechanism.
