Switch in fifth bow cylinder

Switch in fifth bow cylinder

The fifth bow is operated by two hydraulic cylinders that are positioned by the soft top mechanism body mountings. During operation, the control module must know when the hydraulic piston is in respective end position (bottom/upper). Therefore, there is an end position switch in each end of the hydraulic cylinder that is fitted on the left side in the soft top mechanism.

The end position switch consists of a cylinder housing (ground), a contact plate that is fitted in the cylinder housing end, and a spring which is fitted on the piston. The control module outputs B+ via a 1 kOhm resistor on pin 3 (switch bottom position) and pin 31 (switch upper position), and when the piston reaches an end position, the spring on the piston will touch the contact plate and cylinder housing, resulting in grounding of the control module input in question.
