Removing



1. Position the car on a lift.

2. Drain the refrigerant from the A/C system, see Filling and draining refrigerant with Robinair Smart Cart 10324 Robinair 17234 .

3. Remove the intake manifold hose for the turbo, if one is fitted.

4. Remove the multi-grooved V-belt from the compressor.

5. Unplug the compressor electric connector.


6. Remove the A/C pipes PAD-connection from the compressor. Plug the openings.

7. Cars with 4-cyl fuel injection engine:

Remove the compressor retaining bolts from the attachment and lift up the compressor.

8. Cars with turbo:

8.a. Remove the two upper retaining bolts for the compressor.

8.b. Raise the car and remove the air shield in front of the wheel housing.

8.c. Remove the lower retaining bolt and lower the compressor under the hoses for the oil cooler.


Fitting



1. Adjust the oil level in the compressor, see Filling and adjusting compressor oil .

2. Cars with 4-cyl fuel injection engine:

Fit the compressor and tighten the retaining bolts.

3. Cars with turbo:

3.a. Raise the car and fit the compressor. Position the compressor under the oil cooler hoses.

3.b. Fit the two upper retaining bolts.

3.c. Tighten the lower retaining bolt.

Tightening torque 47 Nm (35 lbf ft)

3.d. Refit the air shield in front of the wheel housing.

3.e. Lower the car. Tighten the upper retaining bolts for the compressor.

Tightening torque 47 Nm (35 lbf ft)

4. Lubricate the two new O-rings with synthetic vaseline. Remove the plugs from the compressor and the pipes. Fit the new O-rings.

5. Screw the A/C pipes' PAD connection to the compressor.

Tightening torque: 20 Nm (14.5 lbf ft)

6. Plug in the compressor electric connector and press it into the holder.

7. Fit the multi-grooved V-belt.


8. Fit the induction manifold for the turbo, if one is fitted.

9. Vacuum pump the A/C system and fill with refrigerant, see Filling and draining refrigerant with Robinair Smart Cart 10324 Robinair 17234 .
