Solenoid valve, heater box shut-off valve
Solenoid valve, heater box shut-off valve |
For cars with A/C, the climate system for certain markets is provided with a vacuum-operated shut-off valve for the heater box. The purpose is to prevent coolant from circulating through the heater box, when needed, so that maximum cooling performance can be achieved.
The shut-off valve is closed when the temperature control knob is turned to the position for max cold. It is controlled by a micro-switch (580) located on the control panel and is activated by the temperature control in the max cold position.
When the micro-switch closes, the solenoid valve is energized and creates a vacuum affecting the shut-off valve, which in turn closes off the flow of coolant
The solenoid valve is supplied with power from +54 via fuse 21.
