Remove the upper engine cover and charge air pipe.

Disconnect the glow plugs.
|
|
| 3. |
Undo and remove the glow plugs.
|
|
| 4. |
Remove the fuel pump fuse from the main fuse board.
|
|
| 5. |
Connect a compression gauge with a measuring range of between 10 and 40 bar to the glow plug hole together with
Adapter, compression test diesel
83 95 345.

| 6. |
Run the starter motor for at least 4 seconds at a speed of at least 150 rpm. Continue until the gauge stops. The maximum permitted cylinder differential 10%.

| 7. |
Disconnect the compression gauge and adapter.
|
|
| 8. |
Replace the fuel pump fuse in the main fuse board.
|
|
| 9. |
Fit the glow plugs.
Tightening torque 10 Nm (8 lbf ft).
|
|
| 10. |
Connect the glow plugs.
|
|
| 11. |
Refit the charge air pipe and the engine cover.
|
|
| 12. |
Clear any diagnostic trouble codes.
|
