Fault symptom
Conditions
The following conditions apply for the DTC in question:

The diagnosis lead from the glow plug control module should switch high/low inversely to the activation lead from PSG 16 to the glow plug control module. If inversion does not take place and the diagnosis lead (pin 9 on the glow plug control module) has the same status (high/low) as the activation lead (pin 6 on the glow plug control module), then the glow plug control module has reported a fault in the glow plug circuit or there is an electrical fault in the diagnosis lead (pin 9).

Break in activation circuit (K4). The diagnostic trouble code can only be generated if the glow function is activated.

Activation circuit (pin K4) shorting to B+. The diagnostic trouble code can only be generated if the glow function is activated

Diagnostic help
The glow plug can be read and activated using the diagnostic tool.
Disregard P0380 or P1380 if they are generated. Check the glow plug control module for faulty components, power supply or grounding. Check also the glow plugs and their leads.
