Main Relay Circuit. No Voltage to Control Module.


Fault symptoms


• CHECK ENGINE lamp on.


Conditions

The following conditions apply for this DTC:


• The main relay closed too soon. If the voltage disappears from pin 28 when three start attempts have been made, a DTC will be generated.

The main relay is closed too late. The main relay circuit is checked during afterrun. When the control module stops grounding pin K28 to the main relay, a clock is started. If it takes longer than 3 seconds for the power to disappear from pin 5 after grounding stops on pin K28 three times in a row, a DTC will be generated the next time the ignition is on.


Diagnostic help

A poor contact or ground connection could cause the control module to experience a break in current. When a fault arises that generates P1653, DTCs can also be generated for the components that are fed power by the main relay.
