Control module, glow plugs
Control module, glow plugs |
The task of the glow plug control module is to activate the glow plugs after a command from the engine management system. It is powered with +30 from fuse F1 (60 A) while it is grounded from pin 7 to G30.
The glow plug control module has internal diagnostics, which monitors the glow plugs. The engine control module is then informed when a fault arises via the lead from connector pin 9 to engine control module connection 4.
When the engine control module grounds pin 4, the glow plug control module is activated, which means that pins 1 and 2 on the control module become live. The glow plugs are connected in pairs to pins 1 and 2.
When the voltage on pin 8 (B+) exceeds 12V, such as when the engine has started, the control module will go over to alternately energizing pins 1 and 2. The alternation between pins 1 and 2 is 5 Hz. The power supply is alternated in this way to reduce the power consumption.
Diagnosis |
DTCs are set upon general system fault of the glow function.
P0380 Glow control module. Feedback error.
P1380 Glow control module. Feedback error.
If the activation circuit (K4) has a break, DTC P1381 will be generated.
If the activation circuit (pin K4) is short-circuited to B+, DTC P1383 will be generated.
If the activation circuit (pin K4) is short-circuited to ground, DTC P1384 will be generated.
